The Kartuli dance is a dance of Tariel and Nestan-Darejan
The Georgian Times , 2007 April 17

“Georgians have fire in their feet and their whirling dervish spins are more exciting than all kinds of Hollywood movements. Georgians swirl like there are braces on their feet but they keep the upper body still and straight,” — German poet KuBa(Kurt Bartel)

Legendary Georgians fascinate foreigners with their magnificent nature, grace and fire of Georgian dance and folk songs.

Pridon Sulaberidze, a prominent Georgian dancer and choreographer, talks about Georgian dancing.

“People want a different type of singing and dancing today. Novelty should be welcomed but we should remember that our folklore is unique and unforgettable and our folk traditions have fascinated the world. Therefore, it would be a great disaster to lose this treasure. We need to revive, develop and promote our culture. There are amazing perkhulis in Svaneti which have not been ever staged or shown to a wider audience. All of this needs to be studied and preserved. The world wants to see our folklore, not elements imported from other countries. A Taiwanese choreographer took songs performed by the Rustavi ensemble and staged a modern ballet. But Georgians are saying no to some part of our heritage.
